Second-year Software Engineering students have been working with Kerridge to optimize truck packing.
Ian Horsfall of Kerridge challenged the students to develop algorithms for efficiently loading trucks with items of varying sizes and weights for transport between depots. As part of their second-year Professional Software Projects module, two teams devised different solutions to this logistical puzzle.
Next year, we hope to scale up to container ships - and introduce Docker into the mix!
