About

I joined Ï㽶ÊÓƵ in 2014 and currently lead all undergraduate economics courses. My academic journey started at Cairo University, followed by two master’s degrees with distinction from the American University in Cairo and the University of Exeter. Then, I completed My PhD at Exeter, exploring long memory time series and fractional cointegration analysis.

Economics is not just a subject to me; it is about linking theory with real-world problems. My research covers theoretical and applied econometrics, time series analysis, macroeconomics, financial econometrics, environmental and energy economics, and international trade. I have also guided many postgraduate and doctoral students, and always eager to guide potential PhD candidates in my research areas.

I have been teaching economics since 2007, specialising in econometrics, statistics for economics, mathematical economics and macroeconomics. I am passionate about creating learning experiences that not only teach but inspire students to see the transformative potential of economics.

Beyond publishing in peer-reviewed academic journals, I am committed to making economics accessible. My media articles in The Conversation UK have reached over 180,000 readers, bridging the gap between complex economic concepts and public understanding. It is about demystifying economics, showing how it explains and shapes our world.
