Anne Robinson BA (Hons), DipSW, MSW
Principal Lecturer
Summary
I am programme leader for the Foundation Degree, BA (Hons) top up and Graduate Diploma in Community Justice. These are part of the Probation Qualifications Framework (PQF) and the academic programmes are run alongside vocational and competence-based assessment to provide qualifying routes for probation officers. We work closely with the National Probation Service and also with other universities, because SHU is the lead institution out of a group of four involved in the delivery across the Yorkshire & Humberside and North West divisions.
About
I qualified as a probation officer in 1993 and worked in a variety of roles including a secondment to a women's prison and a specialist youth justice team. In 2000 I joined a newly formed Youth Offending Team, initially as a practitioner but later became a manager, widening my knowledge and experience of the criminal justice sector. I joined SHU in 2005 and my varied experience here has included training youth justice and youth work practitioners, researching criminal justice practice, and teaching gender and youth studies on the undergraduate criminology programme. Since 2007 I have taught on the probation officer training programmes and took over the development and then operational management of the current PQF awards in 2009. I became programme leader in November 2013.
