Dr. Arunprabhu A Sugumaran obtained a PhD from Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ. He has been part of the National HIPIMS Technology Centre as a Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµer since 2014. He has been involved in the development of monolithic/nanoscale multilayer thin film coatings for various applications such as biomedical, decorative, corrosion and wear protection using DCMS/HIPIMS.
About
Arunprabhu obtained a PhD in Surface Engineering in 2014 after completing Postgraduate degree in Materials Science and Bachelor degree in Physics. He wrote his PhD thesis on development of nanostructured PVD coatings for total knee replacement joints using HIPIMS
His research interests are DC magnetron sputtering, high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HIPIMS), monolithic/multilayer thin film coatings and surface analysis. He has huge experience in surface analytical techniques such as SEM, FIB, AFM, XRD, Tribological analysis, Raman analysis, Nanohardness test and Corrosion test.
Prior to his doctoral studies, he briefly worked as a microscopist, specialised in Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). He also has research experiences as project trainee and project assistant in surface engineering division at National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), India.
