Senior Lecturer
Summary
I am a critical care nurse with a special interest in patient safety and human factors. I have worked with a team and several external parties to integrate these concepts within programmes here at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. I am passionate about improvement in health and social care and have recently returned from a secondment with the Improvement Academy where I worked on regional and national projects related to patient safety and human factors. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), a Q Fellow and an Improvement Fellow.
About
I am a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing and I hold a Masters in Healthcare Education. I enjoy incorporating new innovation and technology into teaching and I am Simulation lead for the Department of Nursing and Midwifery. Iwork within the Advancing Practice team supporting worksforce transformation.
I have a keen interest in simulation-based learning and co-ordinate a one-day Acute Care course for student nurses and student doctors which utilises this teaching methodology. I have also published and presented both nationally and internationally on this subject.
Teaching
I deliver teaching on the BSc (Honours) Nursing (Adult), MSc Nursing, MSc Advanced Clinical Practice courses and across a range of interprofessional modules. I am course leader for the collaborative critical care course. Alongside my colleague I am simulation lead for the nursing department.
