I apply Design and Co-design practises as methods to applied Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and Knowledge Mobilisation in the field of Health and Wellbeing, to reduce inequality, and improve quality of life.
About
Joe Langley is Principal Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Fellow of Co-design and Knowledge Mobilisation in Health and Wellbeing. His research focuses on the role of design practices within Design Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, within Co-Design and in Interdisciplinary Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. He is particularly interested in the Knowledge Mobilisation qualities of these design practices, and how they can be used to make research findings more useful and more usable - and to speed up this knowledge mobilisation process within the field of health and wellbeing to reduce inequalities and increase quality of life.
Joe has held an NIHR Knowledge Mobilisation Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Fellowship and continued to develop and apply his learning from this to a wide variety of research challenges and collaborations.

The aim of this research is to co-design processes and resources to guide the role of patients and families in serious incident investigations at a national and local level. It will test these processes to understand their impact upon experience, learning and the likelihood of seeking legal recourse. Our role in this research is to lead the co-design work.

The aim of this project is to build better partnerships between academics and care homes
Lab4Living is part of the European Network of Living Labs (ENOLL) and we work closely with colleagues across a number of national and international HEIs, 3rd sector organisations and Industry.
Joe has a growing network of Health Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and Innovation collaborators; domestically within Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs) and NIHR ARCs and MIC's.
Joe has growing international links with collaborators broadly around three themes of (i) health research, (ii) design in health and (iii) evidence use and knowledge mobilisation, particularly in Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Nigeria and Chile.

Dr Joe Langley is a Design Engineer in Healthcare Innovation working in Lab4Living, an interdisciplinary research group which brings together designers, health care practitioners, engineers, psychologists with the aim of designing products, services and environments to improve the quality of life and well-being for individuals.
Joe’s research focuses particularly on the role of different stakeholders (Ï㽶ÊÓƵers, Patients, Healthcare Professionals, Industry) in the innovation process, using creative practices to co-create novel interventions and put them into everyday practice.
