Jordan Beaumont

Dr Jordan Beaumont RNutr (Public Health), FHEA

Lecturer in Food and Nutrition

Summary

I am a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) (Public Health) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I joined Sheffield Hallam in early 2021 as an Associate Lecturer, and was made full Lecturer within the Food and Nutrition group in August 2022. Within this role, I teach across a range of food and nutrition modules, particularly at postgraduate level, and supervise dissertation projects. I am also the Recruitment Lead for the Division of Sustainable Futures and Supply Chain and lead of the Sheffield Hallam Appetite 香蕉视频 (SHARe) cluster.

Before joining Sheffield Hallam, I worked as a freelance nutritionist and completed my PhD exploring the use of electrical brain stimulation to modulate eating behaviours. My current research focusses on eating behaviour and appetite control, disordered eating and drinking behaviour, obesity and weight management, and dietary and health inequalities. I also hold a number of external roles, including Visiting Lecturer at Leeds Trinity University, Deputy Lead/Administrator for the UK Congress on Obesity (UKCO), and part of the Managing Board for the Peer Community In (PCI) Nutrition.

Teaching

Sheffield Business School

College of Business, Technology and Engineering, Sheffield Business School

Sheffield Business School
Division of Sustainable Futures and Supply Chain

I teach and lead modules across the undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio within food and nutrition and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation projects. My teaching primarily focusses on modules relating to nutritional physiology and biochemistry, obesity and weight management, food choice and eating behaviour, and research methods. I also teach across modules embedding applied learning and employability (e.g., work-related learning, consultancy and academic/professional skills modules).

香蕉视频

My research uses both quantitative and qualitative methodology to explore four key themes: eating behaviour and appetite control, disordered eating and drinking behaviour, obesity and weight management, and dietary and health inequalities. I have a growing track record of securing internal and external funding to support collaborative projects, working with national and international research groups, local and national government, and public health bodies. My current research focusses particularly on the experience of living with obesity, and the impact of dietary and health inequalities on eating behaviour, dietary intake and weight management.
