Dr Louise Turner
Senior Lecturer
Summary
Dr Louise Turner is a Senior Lecturer in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition within the Academy of Sport and Physical Activity at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. Louise's research focuses on the cardiopulmonary responses and limitations to exercise in both health and disease and the control mechanisms of exercise regulation in these populations. Ï㽶ÊÓƵ projects in this area investigate training and nutritional interventions on exercise-induced asthma and exercise performance.
About
Dr Louise Turner is a Senior Lecturer in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition within the Academy of Sport and Physical Activity at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. After completing a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science at University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (Cardiff Metropolitan University), Louise completed an MSc in Exercise Physiology at Indiana University, USA. Louise continued her post graduate studies at Indiana University and was awarded a PhD in Human and Exercise Physiology (Human Performance) in 2010 before embarking on a post-doc and course leader role. Louise joined Ï㽶ÊÓƵ in 2015.
Louise's research focuses on the cardiopulmonary responses and limitations to exercise in both health and disease and the control mechanisms of exercise regulation in these populations. Ï㽶ÊÓƵ projects in this area have investigated training and nutritional interventions on exercise-induced asthma and exercise performance. Louise's research is currently exploring the interactions between exercise (acute and chronic), nutrition and airway health and was recently awarded the American College of Sports Medicine -Gatorade Sport Science Institute Sport Nutrition Award for her research in this area.
Louise is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science, and an affiliate member of both the European Respiratory Society and The Physiological Society.
