I am course leader for the BA (Hons) Education and Psychology and Counselling degree, a Chartered Psychologist and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I am currently studying for a Professional Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy at The Academy S.P.A.C.E.
About
As course leader for the BA (Hons) Education with Psychology and Counselling degree I am responsible for continuous improvement of the course based on student feedback.
Prior to my current role, I worked in the Department of Psychology, Sociology & Politics for 10 years as a lecturer and then senior lecturer. My teaching focused on developmental psychology and quantitative research methods modules. Latterly, I was a key contact for staff and students as the liaison tutor between the Education and Psychology departments.
I am in the second year of the Professional Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My placement is as a trainee specialist counsellor at the NHS Sheffield Adult Autism and Neurodevelopmental Service.

My PhD research assessed the development of social cognition and executive function in late adolescence and early adulthood using a sequential design. I also analysed how mood and executive functions predicted social cognition.
My later research has focused on Facebook use, mental health, empathy and self-esteem in early adulthood.
More recently I was part of a multi-disciplinary research team conducting a large mixed methods online survey about the effectiveness and acceptability of treatments for fibromyalgia.
