Summary

I course lead for BA (Hons) Education with Autism, Disability and SEN. I teach predominantly on these degrees but also have experience supervising MA students. I am currently writing up my Doctoral research which explores disabled peoples' conceptualisations and experiences of self-harm. I also run the Disability Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ Forum.

About

I'm a disabled lecturer with a passion for making the courses that I lead and work on, as inclusive and accessible as I can. I have a background in psychology but now I come from a disability studies perspective. I have taught across a range of degrees including at Masters level. I worked on a number of initiatives to make SHU a more inclusive and accessible institution, as well as helped to run and organise a number of 'awareness' days, in my old role as co-chair of the Disabled Staff Network. I am also the leader of the Disability Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ Forum, which is a place for early career researchers to come and present their work in a supportive environment. My current research is focusing on disabled people and self-harm however I have an interest in inclusion more broadly and disabled peoples experiences of living in a disabling society.
