Sue is an Exercise, Health and Wellbeing Officer and Honorary Public Health Hub Associate at Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ. Sue successfully completed her Masters degree at Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ in Exercise Science and Wellness in 2005 with a distinction for her thesis on healthy lifestyle support in type 2 diabetes. Prior to this she studied Biology, Exercise and Health at Oxford Brookes University.
She has developed over 13 years' experience in applied research, teaching and consultancy. Sue specialises in Workplace Wellness programmes and Exercise for clinical populations across a broad portfolio of health research, consultancy and teaching. She is an Advanced Exercise Instructor with the Register of Exercise Professionals specialising in Exercise Referral, Cancer and Cardiac rehabilitation. Sue is a highly skilled health promotion practitioner and is trained in Advanced Motivational Interviewing to facilitate lifestyle related behaviour change, evidenced though the successful impact of several interventions. She is a qualified Associate Lecturer and is a guest tutor on undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Physical Activity for Health.
Sue is committed to interventions that have a positive impact on health and wellbeing and has significant experience delivering, managing and evaluating public health programmes. This includes providing over 2,000 health, fitness and lifestyle assessments and has led a range of health promotion workshops for employees from a range of organisations including Higher Education, NHS, Local Authority and SMEs. She has trained over 200 managers on the topic of health and wellbeing and trained 100 nurses and health professionals on healthy lifestyle advice.
Sue has published and presented research at both national and international conferences and was recently nominated for an international young researcher award at the European Public Health Conference.
Sue's specialist area of interest is in Public Health, Behaviour Change and Clinical Exercise Interventions.
