About

Terrence came to Ï㽶ÊÓƵ in 2006, bringing with him three areas of expertise: Technology Enhanced Learning, IT Business Implementation, and Employability.

His main role at Sheffield Hallam is teaching but with some research activity squeezed in. He teaches at postgraduate and undergraduate levels, focusing mainly on topics related to management and professionalism in the IT sphere. Teaching subjects include teaching IT Project Management, Professional Ethics, Business Analysis and Strategy. Ï㽶ÊÓƵ activities are e-government, TE|L and IT Professional ethics.

Prior to joining Sheffield Hallam in 2006 he spent six years at University for Industry as Head of e-learning IT Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and Development, a role which involved a range of initiatives and projects exploring innovations in technology enhanced learning. Projects included mobile learning technologies, implementing e-learning in prisons, and strategies for e-learning services including technologies, accessibility and inclusion.

Before that Terrence spent 20 years as a civil servant, moving from an Employment Advisor and Jobcentre Manager into roles linking employment policy with the use of IT. This involved his creating and leading an internal IS Consultancy service acting as a bridge between IT, operational and policy disciplines. It was in this role that he was exposed to the potential of ICT in education when he took charge of an IT Training function experimenting in the development and use of Computer Based Training.

Terrence's academic training was originally in History, something he still loves and manages to bring into his teaching material, as well as his last conference paper on e-government.
