There are over 1 billion people globally experiencing cognitive health problems at some point in their lives. This puts a strain on medical organizations such as the NHS and affects the individual's quality of life. Currently, the solutions for both cognitive and physical rehabilitation are limited and often ineffective. There is significant market opportunity within healthcare and an increasing demand for innovative, tech-driven health and wellness solutions.
This project is innovative because we aim to develop the world's first digital apputilising immersive technologies including 3D avatars to create dance 'movement and music' choreography, to provide healthcare professionals with a tool to plan and administer music and movement programmes for patient care whether it be on-site or at home. Through the project, an early prototype of Uchoreo will be designed in collaboration with choreographers and experts in dance, fitness, healthcare and the wellness industries. Uchoreo aims to be of use to healthcare providers in home care monitoring and to assist in research that studies the effects that dancing has on the brain (an area of research that is finding significant improvements in cognitive health in participants that dance). Eventually, Uchoreo will expand into other sectors, e.g. fitness, dance, along with the performing arts and sporting events.
