The main objective of this research scoping project is to collate written evidence and practitioner insights on the ways in which green, blue and other public spaces are used, the benefits that this usage can generate in terms of health and wellbeing, and any changes in the nature and extent of such spaces over recent times that could undermine these benefits. This evidence will be gathered from three complementary sources:

• Rapid evidence review of recent academic and grey literature, informed and supplemented by our own recent relevant studies.
• Stakeholder interviews to garner up to date practitioner and public knowledge, and to help identify and fill gaps in the evidence base.
• Stakeholder workshops delivered in partnership with a community-based organisation in London, Sheffield and Glasgow. These will discuss findings and explore issues arising with a view to formulating a set of research questions that will underpin the Health Foundation’s future research programme in this sphere.
