Staff from SHP worked with Parkletics to develop and test a comprehensive outdoor bodyweight exercise system

The challenge

We were asked to design an outdoor exercise system that can be installed in public parks, and to create and test an exercise system that can be used by exercisers of all levels. The equipment had to be maintenance-free and simple to use.

The method

We designed a set of outdoor bodyweight exercise equipment with the director of Parkletics. This was supplemented by an exercise hierarchy that is based on functional bodyweight activities. The system is suitable for those new to exercise right through to experienced users. 

The impact

To date, three installations have taken place. We have also provided training for Parkletics instructors, who are running organised sessions and advocating for the use of the Parkletics equipment.
