T Levels

T Levels are a new vocational qualification you can study as an alternative to A Levels and BTECs.

Grades and UCAS Points

By completing a T Level you’ll receive an overall grade of pass, merit, distinction or distinction*.

These grades give you the following UCAS points:

  • Distinction* - 168
  • Distinction - 144
  • Merit - 120
  • Pass (C or above on the core) - 96
  • Pass (D or E on the core) - 72

Your Offer

When we consider your application and want to make you an offer, this may include an overall UCAS points requirement and in some cases a specific grade in your Core T Level study. For example, 144pts with a grade B from your Core.

What is a T Level

T Levels are two-year courses which are equivalent to three A levels. They’re aimed at 16 to 19-year-olds and are designed in collaboration with employers.

T Levels offer students practical learning at a school or college, and on-the-job experience through an industry placement. Typically, you’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a 45-day placement.

Like A levels, there are no tuition fees to study a T Level if you start before you are 19.

Why study a T Level

T Levels are a good option for students who want to combine their studies with work experience. Not only will you get the skills and knowledge companies are looking for, but you’ll also get a nationally recognised certificate, plus UCAS points to help you on your way to your degree. In 2022, over 92% of T Level students achieved a ‘Pass’ or above.

What T Levels include

By completing a T Level you’ll get:

  • A technical qualification with core skills, theory, and industry knowledge
  • Specialist occupational skills and knowledge of the career
  • An industry placement with an employer
  • A minimum standard in maths and English
