Learning and Teaching for Practice (Distance Learning)




Introduction
The module is designed to develop your knowledge of education and practical teaching skills to support education and training in the workplace. You will be able to explore your educational experiences and practice and improve teaching skills and understanding that supports patient care.
Who the course is aimed at
This module is for all health and social care professionals with an interest in learning and teaching, who wish to develop their skills and expertise in education. The module is aimed at both early career educators and those experienced in education, which provides a vibrant multi professional learning environment.

You will be able to explore learning and facilitation which will develop your knowledge, skills and insight. This will enhance your teaching skill set, which will support improved teaching and learning and staff development in the workplace. As an online route, you are able to flexibly engage with the learning around your own needs, whilst being supported through module activity and contact points throughout the module.
What you learn
Through the module, you will explore teaching, learning and education through both a theoretical and practical lens to enhance your teaching practice, so to increase the probability that learning will take place. You will explore areas such as educational theories, different approaches to learning, learner engagement as well as assessment, feedback and inclusivity for example. Irrespective of your educational experience, the module will enable you to explore and develop, whilst learning with and from other health professionals.
General areas covered
This module offers the opportunity to complete the Society of Radiographers Practice Educator award.

Entry requirements
- Relevant professional qualification
- Relevant work experience
- Relevant workplace opportunities and organisational support
- Normally, applicants will hold a first degree / professional qualification which is recognised in the UK in a related health care subject.
- Usually 3 years full time experience (or part-time equivalence) in relevant professional practice over the preceding 10 years. (3 years minimum for NMC Teacher applicants)
- An appropriate professional qualification
- In addition, recognised qualification in specific field of practice
- Usually has an NMC approved Mentor qualification or equivalent with appropriate experience. Must be educated to first degree level.
- International students must have reliable internet access and supply IELTS scores.

Online learning encompasses learning across a range of spaces from online learning material, through to activity and webinars for example, to help consolidate and reflect on learning. These spaces will also enable touchpoints support and help develop a community of learning.
