2019 Netball World Cup impact assessment

How we assessed the economic and social impact of the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool

We were appointed by UK Sport and England Netball to assess and report on the impact of the 2019 Netball World Cup in relation to the five outcome areas of the Government's strategy for sport - Sporting Future.

Data gathering

We conducted a survey of some 4,000 spectators plus other event attendees (teams, media personnel, officials etc.) using a combination of at-event and online methods and supplied questions for a separate nationwide survey commissioned by England Netball. We also analysed event documentation including the event budget.

Data analysis and findings

Using our eventIMPACTS compliant model, we estimated that the event delivered a significant boost to Liverpool's economy. We also found that the event contributed positively to the other Sporting Future outcomes of physical wellbeing, mental wellbeing, individual development and community development.

Reporting and dissemination

We produced an in-depth confidential report for the client including an infographic summary of the key findings. We also worked closely with UK Sport and England Netball to support their efforts to release the findings for public consumption.
